God does not play dice! djjs blog

“God does not play dice”- this wisdom-filled statement by renowned scientist Albert Einstein conveys a highly potent message for all of us to ruminate on the old age question of “the purpose of human life”.  We ordinary mortals even do everything with a purpose in mind. Although accepted is the fact that our vision is limited and at times, we cannot foresee the consequences it may lead to. But, how can God with infinite vision and wisdom do things without a purpose?

God created us all with a specific purpose and plan. No life on earth is a fluke of nature. We are on earth as a result of God's will. Therefore, none of us is an accident. A closer look at the act of procreation will reveal that parents may not plan the birth of their offspring but God does it with perfect precision. The birth of a child is no surprise for God. In fact, God not only expected it but also knew it. The Holy Bible says, “Long before you were conceived by your parents, you were conceived in the mind of God”. Thus, our birth is not an accident, mistake, chance, or any coincidence. We were born because God willed it.

It may surprise many but the truth is that Lord Almighty prescribed every single detail of our body, family, race, and every bodily feature is a deliberate act of God.  Hindu philosophy interprets it in terms of Law of Karma, which means that what we are today is the result of what we did and thought in the past. Our acts and conduct of the present life determine every aspect of our future life.

Thus, the uniqueness of our personality, the natural talents, and the type of physical apparatus we possess are all determined by God based on our Karmic-factors. Therefore, bemoaning about your physical appearance, your plight is meaningless as your karma of previous lives was the crucial factor in the God's scheme of things. The Bible puts it beautifully in these words, “You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; you know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something”.

Since your birth is not an accident, rather you are born with a reason, God is also instrumental as to when you would be born and how long you would live. Almost everything about you is pre-determined. The Bible makes it abundantly clear in these words, “You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your book”.

Since God gave you birth with a purpose, he also decided where you would live for accomplishing this purpose. Your nation, your race, your skin colour, your family are not accidents. All this is part of God's scheme in your case like anybody else. He has not left any detail to chance.

However, we find fault with His scheme because of our limited vision. Your life not being according to your liking does not mean that it is without a purpose. Your lamenting on your plight shows your ignorance on two counts. One that God's vision is limitless. Second, you are unaware of the underlying principle in God's scheme for His creation. We tend to forget what we ate a week ago. What to say of our actions a year or so ago!  Least do we know of our deeds of previous lives. All this demonstrates that our vision is finite. God being omniscient does not forget anything. His accounting and dispensation is perfect and flawless. Arbitrariness is man's attribute and not of God's. The Bible puts it, “From one man he made every nation, and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live”.

God takes care of not only the place of your birth but also how you would be born. Regardless of the fact whether your parents are good or bad, God had a purpose and knew it well that the two individuals, i.e., your parents, possessed exactly the right genetic material to create the person that you are or say the one He had in mind. In modern terminology, the two individuals had the DNA God wanted to make you from.

There may be children who are unplanned by their parents, but they are not unplanned by God. None should ever feel surprised that God's scheme takes into account human error and even sin. That is why, it is said that there may be illegitimate parents but never illegitimate children.

God never ever does anything wrong. Error or mistake is a human trait and not of God's. He does nothing without a purpose. Thus, every creation, be it a plant or an animal, was designed by Him with a definite purpose in mind.  You might ask about His purpose in creating you. It is nothing but selfless, motiveless love for you. The Holy Bible says, “Long before he laid down earth's foundation, he had us in mind, had settled on us as the focus of his love”.

God thought of all of us even before He made the world. In fact, that is the reason He created the world. God designed our environment so that we get a congenial atmosphere to live in it. We are the crown of His creation. We are the focus of His love. The Bible says, “God decided to give us life through the unspoken word so we might be the most important of all the things He made”. This clearly shows how much He loves and values all of us.

Dr. Michael Denton, a world renowned geneticist, has said that, “All the evidence available in the biological sciences supports the core proposition that the cosmos is a specially designed whole with life and mankind as its fundamental goal and purpose, a whole in which all facets of reality have their meaning and explanation in this central fact”.

God's love is difficult to fathom. His love for man has no parallel. We are here on earth as a special object of God's love. He made us so that He can love us.  This is a great truth on which we should build our life and never curse our fate.

However, remember, God loves those more who struggle more for general improvement and spiritual evolution, in particular. By conferring upon us the gift of freewill, God has afforded us with opportunity to effect certain changes in our plight through the performance of good and pious deeds and, above all, to make sincere spiritual pursuits to realise His all-loving Self.

In fact, this is the profound meaning or purpose of our life on earth. We come to know of this deep concept when we consciously decide to make God the reference point of our lives and strive to attain and live the supreme secret of divine knowledge. Never forget that the litmus test of genuineness of this knowledge is that the spiritual master confers upon you the Christ-consciousness-centre (the Divine Eye) to behold the beatific vision of the beloved Lord. Contemplation and meditation, then on, will offer you plethora of cosmic visions and draw you closer to inherent divinity and merge your being into the ocean of supreme consciousness.
