Adult literacy stands for education for every individual above the age of 21. The main objective of Adult Literacy is to make education available to every adult in India, in the most inaccessible and socially unreachable areas of society. Literacy gives every adult the ability to read, write, do basic everyday math, and survive in this competitive world.

SYAHI - The Fifth Adult Literacy Center Inaugurated || Manthan SVK, DJJS

Manthan - Sampoorna Vikas Kendra, a holistic education programme for the underprivileged sections of society, an initiative by Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, through its project ‘Syahi’ - Adult Literacy Centre, aims to spread education through selfless efforts. For the same, various centers have been opened up in several parts of India and are successfully giving satisfactory results. Following this chain, on 12th of November 2017, Surya Nagar, Faridabad, in Haryana got its first Adult Literacy Centre. The inaugural ceremony of SYAHI witnessed a grand ribbon cutting, followed by lamp lighting ceremony; a skit titled ‘Asto Ma Sadgamay’ was performed showcasing the importance of adult literacy & the need of women empowerment.

The beneficiaries of the centre were presented with ID cards and stationery kits by the Rotaract Club of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, DU. 15 Rotaractors took part in the event. The chief guests of the ceremony were Mr. Dayal Nagpal, a businessman and social worker, Mr. Pappu Nagpal, Mr. Pradeep Dhingra and Mr. Amit Bhatia. These dignitaries praised the initiatives and efforts of DJJS and motivated the volunteers and beneficiaries with their inspiring words.

The event also included testimonials by the beneficiaries of Gurugram Syahi center, wherein they shared their experiences and how their lives were changed by the power of education.
