Drug abuse amongst Youth has not remained as a TREND but this menace has acquired a shape of an ought most NECESSITY now.
This most stalking fact was noticed by the volunteers of BODH the drug abuse eradication program of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, during the exhibition cum one to one counseling and signature campaign at vijay vihar Market, Phase 2, Rohini.
People from various backgrounds visited the exhibition and discussed how an individual travels through the journey of addiction starting from mere experimentation to dependency on one or the other narcotic substance. The longstanding myths about drug abuse owing to the reasons like peer pressure, feeling of isolation, escapism, trend following so on and so forth, not just bleed the youth towards it with the habit of inclination but has also given rise to the second side to India’s addiction problem that comes in the form of our present addicts. Unfortunately, addiction currently plagues millions of Indians—both young and old and has rampant into occurrences of incidents, such as, death due to overdose, AIDS due to unhealthy exchange of syringes amongst IDU’s, rise in domestic violence, crime and downfall of character etc. These are nevertheless the grim reminders of how prevalent and entrenched drug abuse has been in the society in the contemporary era.
Growing affordability and easy availability of these high-end drugs have jaundiced the rigorous efforts put into effect by the government at central and state levels and also by other civic bodies and NGOs. But, to curtail the affluence of substance abuse, holistically effective strategies and plans are required to subside the demand so as to ensure a dip in the production, manufacturing and trafficking of such narcotic substances.
In order to achieve the same, drug abuse eradication program of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan under the abled guidance of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, Head & Founder, is thereby focussing its efforts in reducing the demand of drugs in the society, another step to its ongoing BODH CAMPAIGN targeting the area of West Delhi.
As a result, 15 names were registered for the pursuit of the treatment of de-addiction at the counters and almost 800-1000 people benefitted from the program. The local authorities and the entire population appreciated the program.
