Youths, if they wish, can turn biggest of the dreams into reality- This quote strengthens the belief that, despite today Drug abuse being world’s third largest problem, the dream of having a Drug Free World isn’t a myth. But for this dream to come it is necessary to educate the youths about this evil. It is important for them to know the reality of the substances which are often offered to them hidden behind the glittery covering of ‘in-trend things’. And this truth shall reap the best fruit when told by youths themselves.
Taking a step forward in this direction, the Bodh Team consisting of youth volunteers at the Ghaziabad centre of the Divya Jyoti jagrati Sansthan, used the stage of Youth Festival 2017, organised in Ramlila Ground, Ghaziabad where they were invited for participation, as a medium to reach out to the maximum youths of the area and inform them about this menace prevailing around them in disguise. To bring forth the message an exemplary skit supported by an insightful lecture was put forward. The skit excellently depicted the confusions, the dilemmas and the pressure a youth faces when lethal substances like cigarettes, alcohol, gutkha etc. are offered to them especially amid the peer group while the lecture helped them realise that the decision taken by them in that moment decides the future course of their life, hence it is important for them to make an informed choice at that moment. And for this they need to have complete information on how these substances could possibly affect them. Elaborating on the same, the youths were provided with complete insight on various forms of drugs and the ill effects they have on one’s mind, body and personality. This revelation left the audience to ponder on the saying “All that glitters is not Gold”.
In the end, though in a thoughtful state of mind, the present audience of more than 350 youths indicated a ray of hope and enthusiastically pledged to strive hard in making the dream of Drug Free World a reality.
