An Awareness Walk was organized with 200 participants in order to aware people of varanasi for the issue of drug abuse and its addiction in the city. Varanasi, as religiously being considered the holy pilgrimage, various hard core drugs are being abused by a large number of people in the name of rituals and age old cultural practices because of which even the younger generation is introduced to narcotic substances at their early age of 8 or 9 years.  And lack of awareness also adds fuel to its intensity. With the help and demand of the residents of many prominent communities in the city, Bodh, (Drug Abuse Eradication Program) under Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan founded/mentored by His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj ji decided  to spread awareness amongst the masses through an energetic and collective rally. The rally then commenced from Sheetla mata mandir to sankatmochan mandir via sunderpur to kali mandir covering the main areas of the city. Along with the residents of the city, our main focus was laid upon the younger generation, especially school and college going children in order for awaking them particularly against the act of experimentation with drugs as they are otherwise prone to. Similarly, more than 4500 people were given awareness on the issue elaborately at various high foot fall streets of varanasi. Some of the guests who graced the event were Mr. Kamal Patel, Ex. Counsellor, Cantoment, Varanasi, Sh. Shashi Srivastava, Assistant Editor Amar Ujala, Sachidanand Tripathi, Ex. Chairman , Union Bank, Sh. Jagdanand Dwivedi, Ex. Principal of Sainik School, Imphal. They too highly appreciated the event and also the efforts which the organization is putting in holistically for the welfare of the society.
