DJJS Amritsar sensitize on 'You are what you Eat'

Stating an old saying ‘you are what you eat’ Sadhvi Poonam Bharati Ji, disciple of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj ji, narrated the anecdotes to highlight the relationship between mind and food. She said we will not have a healthy body if we don't also take care of our mind. Good mental health helps us to enjoy life but also cope with problems. It offers a feeling of well-being and inner strength, just as we take care of our body by eating right and exercising, we can do things to protect our mental health. In fact, eating right and exercising can help maintain good mental health. We have to work to keep our mind healthy. Sadhvi Ji also emphasised on the importance and benefits of vegetarian food.

On this occasion, Doctor Gurpreet Khulaar, a professor at Medical College of Amritsar, said "We are, quite literally, what we eat" and everything we eat becomes a part of not only our inner being, but the outer fabric of our body as well. She spoke about an ayurvedic based diet for holistic health as ayurveda preaches that our bodies are made up of a certain kind of dosha either vata, pitta or kapha. In order to keep healthy, we need to balance our dosha through ayurvedic diet.
