Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) Australia, Cr Angela Owen, Councillor for Calamvale Ward, Chairman of Council and High Commission of India in Brisbane hosted a multi-cultural event on the occasion of International Day of Yoga 2017 at the the Calamvale District Park, Brisbane City, Australia. DJJS representatives Sadhvi Deepika Bharti Ji and Sadhvi Ambuja Bharti Ji shared traditional Indian wisdom of Yoga in the unique package of Sansthan’s Vilakshan Yog sessions with the residents of Brisbane City. Present amongst the other sponsors and peers were organizations including Global Organization of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO), Art of Living (AOL), Shri Yoga, Isha Australia and Zi Zai Dong Zen Association Inc. etc.

DJJS representatives delivered a good two hour package of Vilakshan Yog that included Yoga for beginners, Yoga for the seniors, Chair Yoga for office goers, Yoga for body pains, Yoga for weight loss and Yoga for stress relief. In the introductory session, Sadhvi Deepika Bharti Ji discussed in her speech, “Yoga for the ancient man was prevention for many things whereas yoga for the modern man is treatment for many things. This set of many things range from physical ailments to mental ups and downs in the form of disproportionate body shapes and weights, joint pains, some lifestyle diseases such as thyroid, diabetes, arthritis, cervical, spondylitis, fluctuating blood pressure, high cholesterol etc. to stress, depression, burnouts, anger fits, lack of concentration, laziness, fatigue or insomnia.” 

Certain advanced postures such as Surya Namaskar and Sirsasana were also taught by the expert team of DJJS Australia. Sadhvi Ambuja Bharti Ji explained the concept of Vilakshan Yog as, “Vilakshan means extraordinary. The package of Vilakshan Yog therefore includes yogic kriyas, asanas, pranayama, stretching exercises, ayurvedic tips over diet and nutrition, wisdom bytes on yoga, meditation and spirituality and peace prayers. It is easy and adaptable; and with regular practice it softens inflexible muscles and burns rigid fat”. She also said, “Vilakshan Yog also addresses issues like peer pressures, burnouts, emotional fluxes and anger fits that by-default come along in the package of professional careers as well as personal relationships or is age old hysterical depressions”.

In the concluding note, Sadhvi Deepika Bharti discussed the holistic view of the umbrella term – Yoga. She extended her speech on the subjects of ashtang yoga that is patanjali’s eight limbs of yoga for evolution of human consciousness and discussed the unity of individual consciousness with the supreme consciousness in the light of the concepts of the inner world and the divine eye.

Ms. Archana Singh, Honorary Council of India, Mr. Umesh Chandra, Community Leader, Ms. Usha Chandra, President of GOPIO for Brisbane chapter, Mr.  Amit Neekhra, President of Laxmi Narayan Temple, Brisbane marked their presence amongst the eminent guests.
