Drug abuse has emerged as a multi-dimensional threat for the society which is not only affecting a user as an individual but also those in relation to the drug user. Thus, it becomes all the more important for every individual to own the responsibility in order to fight the issue for the benefit of each individual. Therefore, this World Drug Day 2015, Divya Jyoti Jagarati Sansthan under its Drug Abuse eradication program- Bodh organized events in which children holding baton raised their voices forward against the increasing cases of deaths, health issues, mental traumas occurring due to passive smoking.
The Meerut branch of the organization was invited to conduct a workshop at Bale Ram Saraswati Shishu Mandir School on July 4, 2015 on ‘Prevention of the first use of drugs’ amongst studnets. The facilitators of Bodh, through lectures, demonstrations and skits guided more than 2500 students on the subject and encouraged them to “Say No to Drugs”. On the Same day, an exhibition was also put up at Surajkund Park wherein more than 500 were people were informed about the “Hazards of various gateway drugs like cigarette, alcohol, pan masala etc. so that the myths in their minds could be corrected factually and they could live a healthy life then on.
On the similar track, the city of Agra witnessed a mass rally by the volunteers of Bodh that not only comprised only youth or men, but also small children and women. Carrying placards and slogans in their hands they walked down the streets of Agra and sensitized the people about the “Harmful effects of smoking and drinking” and thus urging them to “Stay Drug Free”. At the ending point, an awareness program was also organized wherein through lectures and street play, the volunteers further motivated the people. The message was successfully spread to the masses and they pledged to "Live a Drug Free Life".
