Owing to the El Nino effect, India Meteorological Department (IMD) reveals that the country has received 45% below average rainfall, this year. As consequence water scarcity threat looms over various states of the country.

DJJS Latur actively responding to the current water scarcity threat

Actively responding to the mounting water scarcity threat, DJJS Latur under the banner of Sanrakshan- The Nature Conservation Program of DJJS, joined hands with Maharashtra based Sakal Media Group to further the ‘Sarv Jal Abhiyan’ in the state.  ‘Sarv Jal Abhiyan’ is special water conservation initiative launched by Sakal Media Group in response to the current water scarcity threat in face of Maharastra.

According to the India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) latest report, Maharastra has received 31.7 mm rainfall — 52 per cent below the long period average against the normal level of 66.2 mm during the period. There is only 20 per cent water availability in 100 major reservoirs of the state. Of the 35 districts, 18 have received scanty rainfall.

DJJS Latur actively responding to the current water scarcity threat

Acknowledging the revolutionary work of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) in the area, Sakal Group invited DJJS Sanrakshan to partner in the campaign. DJJS Latur partook in the event, at Gandhi Chowk, Town Hall, Latur on 30 Aug, 2014. An enlightening environment awareness exhibition on the theme of water  and climate change was put by the organisation. The idea was generate awareness among those not completely aware of the depth of the issue, to develop compassion among those aware of it but not doing anything, and to encourage everyone to take action.

The Sansthan furthered the instrumentality of its unique conservation model, which blends conservation awareness with spiritual enlightenment for generating pro- environmental action among the societal resource stakeholders.

Furthering its commitment towards conservation of nature, DJJS Latur will undertake various environment awareness generation activities in the area for reviving resource conservation values among people.
