India’s leading women empowerment drive - DJJS Santulan undertakes month-long KANYA BACHAO campaign to Save Girl Child. Aligned with the Uttarayan Festivals vis-à-vis Lohri, MakarSankranti, MaghBihu, Surya Pongal, Khichadi, Haldi-Kumkum, Vasant Panchami et al from 13th Jan to 14th Feb 2024, DJJS Santulan exhorts the global society to have want as well as value and regard for the girl child. The festivals that traditionally celebrated the birth of a son have been transformed into being a celebration to welcome the Girl Childequally. The trend set by DJJS Santulan has percolated down into the society so well in the past few years that many NGOs, Schools, Colleges, Malls, Resident Welfare Associations and even Temple Associations have joined hands with the initiative to celebrate the traditional festivals in a revamped way to bring back the skewed Child Sex ratio back to normal. KANYA BACHAO campaign therefore focuses on educating one and all to Save Girl Child and stand against Sex-Selective Abortions as its prime objectives.

The campaign KANYA BACHAO run by Santulan, the Women Empowerment & Gender Equality initiative of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthansuccessfully unites women from various walks of life, various professional backgrounds like teachers, professors, doctors, social workers, political leaders, engineers and many more, to rise together and spread the message of Saving Girl Child from discrimination, violence and subjugation.

Every year, this Pan-India campaign KANYA BACHAO dedicates itself to bring social change in gender perspective through the instrumentality of self-awakening. With its massive success in the prior years, numerous beneficiaries have been benefitted by the awareness programmes organised all over the country along with sensitising activities. Girl Child Talent Hunt, Edifying Survey, Enlightening Forum Theatres, Motivational Lecture, Haldi-Kumkum Celebration, Traditional Dance Ballets to name a few. Along with these, Lohri special Bonfires are also conducted to raise Societal Consciousness wherein crimes against girls & women are burnt symbolically written on pieces of papers.

Proud parents of newly born Girl Children are felicitated with mementos and are encouraged to inspire others towards value of girl child. These unpopular societal heroes have become peer-educators at DJJS Santulan events and are now actively raising awareness to eradicate Sex-Selective Abortions from the society.

Santulan’s Gender Inclusive Approach and Empowering Ideology strains on demystifying the myths subjugating girls and women on the name of traditional festivals; thereby unravelling the true meaning behind the celebrations. The importance of a girl child, their want and value in the society and their significance is emphasised upon, by the Brahmgyani Sanyasin Disciples of Divya Guru Shri Ashutosh MaharajJi through enlightening discourses.
