Antarkranti, a unit of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS), conducted a holistic health program for the inmates of Jagadhari & Ambala Central Jail (Haryana). The program was conducted inside the jail premises on Oct 6 and 10, 2014 with the practical implementation of ‘healthy body leads to healthy and constructive mind’. Under its initiative of “constructive engagement” of the inmates, Antarkranti set up an example of how to start a perfect day with Yoga and meditation.

Holistic Health – Get the inside right. The outside will fall into place

The entire event was conceptualized and effectively organized by a team of 5 members from DJJS. It was a morning time (from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM) full of calm, serenity and enthusiasm where inmates engaged themselves in different postures of Yoga. The level of motivation was worth watching where old inmates were as enthusiastic as the young ones, if not more. The prison authority was highly appreciative of this activity in the morning which set the tone of a delightful and positive day.

In the ‘Yog Shivir’, Swami Vigyanand JI, Yog and Parnayam teacher taught the participants various aasans of Yog and pranayam for the fitness of body and mind. Each aasan was demonstrated by Swami Ji in front of the participants who emulate the same with great zeal and perfection. Sh. Ratan Singh (Superintendent) and Dr. Rajiv (Deputy Superintendent) were also present during the program. Dy. Superintendent gave the valedictory remarks wherein he acknowledged the efforts of Antarkranti and encouraged prisoners to implement all the values and spiritual thoughts delivered from the stage.
