India Eye International Human Rights Observer (IHRO), under the leadership of Mr. Rakesh Sharma (Managing Director), in collaboration with UN Information Center for India and Bhutan organized an event Betiyaan on October 16, 2016 held at the India Islamic Cultural Centre, New Delhi. Complementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s initiative of “Beti Bachaao, Beti Padhaao” (Save daughters, Educate daughters). Leading women pioneers from across the country were invited to discuss present-day issues faced by the girl child.

Facilitating their accomplishments, Chief Guest, Shri Narendra Singh Tomar (Honorable Minister of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj) recognized all women who have excelled in their respective fields like Education, Journalism, Corporate, Banking, Finance, Bureaucracy, Judiciary, Armed Forces, Politics, Medicine, Law, Fashion, and Spirituality. 

Sadhvi Aastha Bharti Ji, disciple of His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji (Founder and Head of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan) too was felicitated for her contribution in serving the nation selflessly. Through numerous Bhagwat Kathas across the nation in gender critical states, Sadhvi Ji has enlightened the masses; cracking age old myths and misconceptions with respect to women. In her oration of the holy texts, she impressed on the respect that women got in the vedic times. She never fails to give examples of Lord Krishna, Lord Rama and Vivekananda who laid importance to equality, prominence, and significance of women to the society. She emphatically highlights the Santulan initiative of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, in which issues of gender equality, girl child education, women empowerment, and female foeticide are being tackled and resolved with finesse. She has inspired millions of women, enabling them to overcome all disparaging societal norms. Through her interactions with the public she has been instrumental in empowering women ideologically.
