Bareiily: On December 19th, 2015 the roads of Bareilly district in Uttar Pradesh witnessed worth saluting determination of the students of R.P.M School in Meerganj, Bareilly, who under the banner of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan’s drug abuse eradication program – Bodh, stepped out of their comfort zones to sensitize the people of their area about the grave issue of Drug Abuse.
As a part of this rally, a trail of 350 students along with teachers and school management walked down the streets of Meerganj, motivating the masses against the use of drugs and other intoxicating substances. Holding banners and pla-cards in their hands, and displaying slogans on the ill effects of drugs, the children themselves were enthusiastically shouting aloud phrases like “Nasha nahi, Zindagi chuniya” etc. People on the other hand were stirred to give up their lighters, match sticks, cigarette packets, Bidis, Khaini, Pan Masala, Hukka etc. and also were encouraged to resolve not to consume these life-sucking products throughout their lives again.
Almost 5,000 people from all walks of life benefitted from the rally, innumerous among them were given pamphlets and many were also dealt with personally, during one to one counseling sessions on the way out.
The four colors in which the students were dressed in the rally i.e. red, blue, green and yellow were not merely just names of their school houses– Agni House, Jal House, Prithvi House and Vayu House respectively but also carried the silent message that if the society is to witness change, then all the elements have to come together and be part of this change. In simple words, if the entire society has to be made Drug Free then not just these children but every single person has to resolve to live “Drug Free Life”, be it a teenager, a youth or an adult.
