Jodhpur: The subject experts from Bodh the Drug Abuse eradication Program of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, spoke in the workshop held at Montessari Bal Niketan School on preventing drug abuse among children on the 14th of December, suggesting three steps: Stop, Look and Go. These keywords denote how before following or accepting anybody’s action or proposal, one must always STOP to think, LOOK into its outcomes and then GO for decision making (rejecting and accepting ) , especially when it comes to experimenting with cigarettes, chewable tobacco products and intoxicating beverages. Because, according to studies, the first decision made in relation to experimenting with drugs decides for the rest span of one’s life.
During the interaction, especially the teachers were taken into account and were also addressed to pay more attention to children and were further motivated in taking proactive steps for preventing students from falling victims to such a grave disaster of drug addiction. With the methods of storytelling and narration of instances, right and timely information can be infused amongst the students during the classroom studies and sessions.
More than 900 students along with 50 teachers and school authorities were present and had a deep and logical understanding of various reasons which have been responsible for weaknesses of students with regards to experimenting with drugs. Through quizzes, activities, examples, role plays, posters displays, exhibition, pamphlet distribution and via one to one interaction sessions, various myths were cracked during an hour-long session. The program was well received by all and the school authorities specially invited the organization to come again with such enlightening sessions for the school even in the future course of time.
