Gone are the days when we could choose our careers easily. Now as times are changing, we have a wide variety of subject choices in front of us. So, there is a major need for career counselling these days. To fulfil this need Manthan Sampoorna Vikas Kendra (SVK), Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan’s holistic education programme is a unique educational initiative enlivening the true philosophy of education for underprivileged and underperforming children of society. Manthan SVK time to time organises reunions for alumni and faculty members to reconnect, seek guidance in career development and build strong alumni relations even after they have completed their journey with Manthan SVK.
One such Virtual Alumni Meet was organised on Saturday, 26th September 2020, by Manthan SVK, titled as “नींव - Nurturing Strong Futures”. Ms. Neha Gupta (Volunteer) shared a brief view of Vision and Mission of Manthan SVK and greeted our esteemed guests, Ms. Ratna Pant (Founder & Director, Aim Ultra Counselling Services; a Certified Career Counsellor and Education abroad consultant) and Ms. Sangeeta Gurha (a Certified Career Counsellor).
Ms. Ratana Pant addressed the virtual gathering with a Question and Answer round with students. The overall discussion centered around topics like “Choosing the right career based on skills and interest”, the key factors determining career selection, the various career opportunities among three main streams i.e. Science, Commerce and Humanities, neutral careers, vocational courses and Scholarships. She beautifully explained how to do SWOT analysis to figure out your current strengths, weaknesses, concerns about your goals, and opportunities you can reach out and grab if you put your mind to it. She concluded with an insightful thought that, “Money should not be a guiding factor to choose a career. Your career should give you happiness, satisfaction and make your soul happy”.
In the end, Sadhvi Deepa Bharti Ji (Programme Coordinator, Manthan SVK) thanked the Mentors – Ms. Ratana Pant and Ms. Sangeeta Gurha for conducting such a motivating Career counselling Session. The session concluded with a divine musical composition “Jaagna Hoga Yuva” by Volunteer Tushar Pal.
