In the run-up to International Yoga Day 2023, SAM Workshops, the youth empowerment drive of DJJS conducted a stupendous event, “Yoga@ SAM: Bend it like Yogis” at the prestigious Prudence School, Dwarka on 17th May, 2023. Sharing the common vision of empowering youth, the Principal, Mr. Ritesh Sharma invited SAM Workshops to conduct a Yoga Workshop for students and help them ease-out the ongoing exam stress with ancient yoga techniques.

Yoga@ SAM: Bend it like Yogis at Prudence School, Dwarka

The school assembly hall was bustling with 250+ students from classes 9th to 12th grade and the session started with a SAM emcee welcoming students to celebrate ‘Yoga@ SAM: Bend it like Yogis’ Day. It was followed by an interactive knowledge session on various initiatives taken by SAM addressing a range of youth centric issues.

SAM’s Culture Connect Conclave, which has a unique element of connecting the children with their Indic roots including practical experience of the vibrance of Indian Culture, was much applauded by the audience.

Yoga@ SAM: Bend it like Yogis at Prudence School, Dwarka

After the audio-visual session, filled with great eagerness and enthusiasm, the students and the teachers gathered at the Prudence School’s huge sports hall. The ‘Yoga@ SAM: Bend it like Yogis'’ started with chanting of shlokas. Guided by SAM Volunteers and active schoolteachers, the energetic students made laudable efforts to follow the yoga instructors and performed various asanas. Some of the asanas performed by students were Surya Namaskar (Sun Salutation), Tadasana (Mountain pose), Dhanurasana (Bow Pose), Paschimottanasana (Forward Bend Pose), Bhujangasana (Cobra Pose) amongst many others.

Students got the chance to audience the most informative and practical talk by Sadhvi Dr. Shivani Bharti Ji, Director, SAM on ‘Ashtanga Yoga.’ Sadhvi ji taught students a powerful lesson on improving their concentration and boosting their productivity through a technique called 'Dhyana' the 7th limb of Ashtanga Yoga. She gave a life changing lesson to the students, guiding them on a profound journey of self-discovery and inner growth through the practice of yoga.

The testimonials recorded were the sole proof that the students learnt the various importance of asanas performed at the sports hall. The mutual feeling of less mental-stress and more emotional strength was shared by all. The session concluded with capturing the moment in a picture frame consisting of students, teachers and SAM Volunteers with a cheerful smile on everyone’s faces.
