On 21 December 2025, with the powerful message at SARAS MELA, Gandhi Maidan, Patna that addiction distances an individual from their inner balance, right thinking, family duties, and society, ‘SANKALP Campaign’ conducted an impactful program in collaboration with the Government of Bihar and the Bihar Rural Livelihoods Promotion Society (JEEViKA), with the objective of addressing all forms of addiction—ranging from digital dependency to substance abuse. The event witnessed an overwhelming response, with participation from over 4,000 beneficiaries, including youth, women, children, and members of the general public, highlighting the growing need for such awareness-driven interventions.

Saras Mela (BIHAR GOVT. INITIATIVE) invited DJJS BODH & YPSS to perform under SANKALP campaign - an Anti-Addiction drive

A key strength of the initiative was its integrated and experiential approach. Through lectures, street plays (skits), and cultural performances, complex issues related to addiction were communicated in a simple yet emotionally engaging manner. A special skit inspired by the life and teachings of Swami Vivekananda emphasized self-discipline, inner strength, and purposeful living, particularly resonating with young audiences. Complementing this, a digital addiction–focused skit highlighted the risks of excessive mobile phone use, social media dependency, and online gaming, prompting audiences to reflect on their digital habits.

The program was graced by Shri Vinay Kumar, IPS, Director General of Police (DGP), Bihar, as the chief guest. In his address, he underscored that addiction is not merely an individual issue but a serious social challenge affecting families and communities alike. He appreciated the efforts of DJJS Bodh and YPSS in spreading awareness at the grassroots level and emphasized the importance of preventive education alongside administrative measures.

The joint efforts of DJJS Bodh and YPSS clearly demonstrated how spiritual guidance, youth empowerment, and institutional collaboration can work together to bring meaningful social change. The initiative aligns with DJJS’s nationwide movement “SANKALP – Drug-Free India (2025–2029)”, which aims to address all forms of addiction through sustained awareness, education, and community engagement.

Representatives from JEEViKA and other social stakeholders were also present, further strengthening the collaborative framework of the program. The initiative received notable press coverage in local and regional media, amplifying its impact and extending the message of a drug-free, conscious, and digitally balanced society far beyond the event venue.

Let us come together with SANKALP to build a drug-free, digitally aware, and empowered Bihar.

Sankalp is a joint initiative of Bodh, the Drug Abuse Eradication Program of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS), that works at PAN India level with more than 350 branches.
