Discipleship Directory

Albert Einstein once quoted- "Two things are infinite: the universe and human stupidity." Well, this was the observation from an intellectual perspective. Now, ask a disciple of a Perfect Master about his view in this regard. It's 100% guaranteed that you would get to hear these words- "Only two things are infinite: one, my Guru's Grace and two, my Guru's Love."

And, why would a disciple not say this statement? After all, it is only by his Guru's Grace that he realises his True Self. Solely by his Guru's Grace, he becomes fortunate to experience the infinite Universe within his finite human garb. ...

Infinite salutations to the Perfect Masters whose Infinite Grace and Infinite Love makes an ordinary human being a privileged devotee of God. The full moon day of this month, July 19, 2016 (the day of Guru Puja...) is the most special day for a disciple to pay obeisance in the divine feet of such a Holy Master. He wishes to sing aloud and declare to the whole world about his Master's grace and love.
But by what means can a disciple fathom his Master's infinite grace and love? Verily, neither it's possible to measure the gravity of the Master's love and grace, nor can it be reciprocated in its fullest measure by any means and mechanisms of the world. ...

On the auspiscious occasion of Guru Puja, let's open some chapters from "disciples' directory" to gather beautiful inspirations of discipleship...

It was the time when Guru Shri Ramanujacharya's mission of establishing dharma through the philosophy of Vishishtadvaita was at its full peak. ...

At one point of time, Shri Ramanuja decided to institutionalise his philosophy into writing. ...
After several years of contemplation, Ramanujacharya took the decision of recording the commentary on Brahma-sutras of Vyasa. Kuresan was blessed to become the Guru's amanuensis... Shri Ramanuja gave the following instructions to Kuresan before commencing the writing work-

  1. Dear disciple, you should write word to word as I would dictate to you.
  2. If you notice any text not aligned with what we all have discussed in the past years, then, you should put a pause so that we can look into the credentials of the text said.

...
With Shri Ramanuja's blessings, the work of writing the script started. ...However, in due course of transcription, a stage came where Shri Ramanuja said- "the only distinguishing attribute of the soul is its cognitive power." ...As soon as the Master stated these words, Kuresan immediately kep his writing-quill and gazed at him.

On finding Kuresan not writing, the Master got up and took it as an offence.

...
After that, the Master said to Kuresan- ...Dear Kuresan today you have set an example for one and all as to how a disciple should contribute in his Guru's mission.

What made Shri Ramanuja say this... To know this and furthermore, read the complete article in July'16 edition of English Akhand Gyan Monthly Magazine.
