A well-formed personality is vital for a successful life. Personality can be defined as a set of traits that shape the inner and outer being in a person with an organised pattern of behaviour that makes him/her distinctive. We have heard and studied about many great people till date, who have been able to carve a niche for themselves in the society with the help of their extraordinary personalities.

Personality development should start early in an individual's life i.e. in student life, which is a true reflection of their inner being. But how to create and enhance a personality? In order to answer this question and to share many aspects of personality development and effective communication skills, Manthan Sampoorn Vikas Kendra organised a webinar on 13 February 2021, titled ‘Personality Development and Enhancement in Communication Skills’, for its alumni.

The session was presided over by Parul Sardana Ji. She is a teacher along with being a businesswoman. Parul Ji shared the importance of a good personality and language skills in life with the students. She explained how personality depends equally on mannerisms, behavioural patterns and the communication skills and not on physical appearance alone. Parul Ji further emphasised the determinants of  a good personality, like heredity and environment, which have a special impact on one's personality. But since these two factors are involuntary, there is a third determinant - circumstance(s) - that also plays a crucial role, which need to be discussed in detail.

She highlighted some key factors which would help in building a strong personality, such as, to never follow an escapist attitude, and to fulfill the task in hand with utmost sincerity and integrity in order to achieve success. Along with this, she explained to the students concepts like sense of civility, cooperation, and the habit of speaking consciously with everyone. She explained how being non-judgmental, appreciative of others’ work, motivational etc. would create a loving, caring and impressive person. Some other habits such as a smiling attitude, gentle behaviour, the ability to apologise where it’s required, proactiveness and a grateful nature make a person reach the greatest heights of success.

Further, Parul Ji inspired the students by throwing light on the life and deeds of some great persons such as Mr. Dhirubhai Ambani, JK Rowling, Steve Jobs and Oprah Winfrey. She ended the session by reminding them about the importance of faith in God and prayer. As the laws of nature are invisible to us but exist, similarly the supreme power of the universe lies within each individual and connecting with it from within gives mental strength and courage to overcome any situation in life.

Sadhvi Deepa Bharti Ji delivered the vote of thanks and concluded the webinar by reiterating how one should never hesitate to bring about positive change in one’s habits and how it would prove useful in living a harmonious and fulfilling life.
