Antarkranti removed inhibitions and barriers on International Yoga Day, 2016

A human being exists in its life time at physical level, mental level and spiritual level. A normal being exists at physical level only. He eats, drinks, sleeps, reproduces and spends the entire life in satisfying the materialistic needs. What hinders a human being to transcend up the mental and then spiritual level is our mind and its wavering thoughts. It is often said that all problems are illusions of mind. The more we feel, larger is the problem.

YOGA is the simplistic technique to commune the physical and mental level. The 2nd International Yoga Day was celebrated with zeal and fervor all across the world. Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) is a socio-spiritual organization working fervently in India towards the upliftment of human beings under the guidance of His holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji. Antarkranti (Prisoner reformation and rehabilitation program of DJJS) also celebrated this day with full authenticity and gusto across the prisons of India.

Yoga is a medium to connect prisoners with self and to the outer world by breaking the walls of isolation. Yoga beyond bars is certainly a step towards a crime free society and a better and amicable world. ‘Yoga in Prisons’ is the initiative of Antarkranti that strives to connect every individual behind the bars with Yoga and thus contribute to their holistic development by organizing various Yogshivirs in the prisons.

This year’s event was on a much wider scale and impacted more jail inmates as compared to last year. Yoga has literary turned into a mass movement wherein the prisoners are also marking their participation. It’s amazing to see the interest and inclination of prisoners towards Yoga. Just a right guidance and suitable platform can do wonders in correcting their mindsets.

The session started with the warm up activities for the prisoners followed by various yogaasans and pranayam, followed by meditation Session. The motivational talk on the subject served as the food for thought for the attendees. Prisoners were all charged up for the event. Seeing the enthusiasm of prisoners, the jail staff also joined showing full agility and active participation during the entire event. In totality, 6000 people attended the program and got benefitted physically and mentally so that they can head towards being spiritualistic and peaceful.
