Asteya Sanskarshala- Shaping Honest Hearts through Mindful Choices| July, 2025

Asteya Sanskarshala –catrutha dharma lakṣaṇam, instills the timeless value of Asteya (अस्तेय), a Sanskrit term that means non-stealing - not taking anything that does not belong to one. Beyond refraining from taking what does not belong to them, children learn to respect ideas, time and nature’s gifts. Through engaging sessions, they cultivate honesty, fairness and mindfulness, laying the foundation for responsible and conscientious living.

In July 2025, a total of 55 Sanskarshala workshops were held, benefiting around 2566 children across all DJJS branches, including NRI children as well as students from various schools across the country.

2.   Haryana·        Government Primary School, Saran, Faridabad

Asteya Sanskarshala –catrutha dharma lakṣaṇam, conducted by dedicated Manthan volunteers, focused on nurturing the vital value of non-stealing as the fourth noble trait of Dharma. Children were guided through relatable, everyday situations where taking what is not ours can subtly affect their character and relationships. Through engaging storytelling, creative fun activities such as “Make a Story” and interactive discussions, children explored scenarios like hiding things, claiming someone else’s work or art as their own and delaying or neglecting tasks, which wastes not only their own time but others’ as well.

The sessions also highlighted environmental respect, showing how misusing or taking nature’s resources without care counts as a form of theft. Children reflected on the importance of giving proper credit when using someone else’s ideas, writings or creations and were encouraged to value honesty, transparency and mindfulness in daily life. More importantly, they were taught practical ways to internalize Asteya through awareness, ethical habits and guidance from God, parents and teachers. By understanding and practicing non-stealing in all its subtle forms material, intellectual, temporal and environmental - children learned to respect themselves, others and the world around them. Laying the foundation for integrity, responsibility and a balanced, value-rich life. On that note, sessions concluded with the chanting of shanti mantra and prayers. Everyone paid their humble salutations unto the lotus feet of Divya Guru Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji.
