Manthan SVK- social initiative of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan took a step forward on 12 August 2018 towards spreading literacy among women. A new Adult Literacy Centre- “SYAHI” was inaugurated by Ms. Sangeeta Jindal (councillor, code of Conduct) and Ms. Shweta Saini (councillor, Criminal & Asset Declaration) in Vikas Nagar, New Delhi. In this drive, Rotaract Club of Sri Guru Gobind Singh College of Commerce, Delhi University, has contributed by providing the Stationery kits to the women.
On the very first day, we set a benchmark by enrolling thirty women from nearby remote areas of Vikas Nagar. Their courage to invite a change motivates us to take efforts for their betterment.
A discussion on problems faced by illiterates was held in order to chalk out solutions for the same. Moreover, testimonies of women from other ALC centres were recorded to share their experience and views on being part of this initiative. Moreover towards the end, ID cards and stationery kits were distributed to motivate women to never give up the path of literacy. In all the change was welcomed by everyone with an aim to undertake activities for their all-round development.
