सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः’, Let all be healthy- a three days Health Awareness Program was organized by Bengaluru Centre of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS), from 25th to 27th August 2017 at Singapura Layout, Jalhalli East in Bengaluru, Karnataka. The main objective of this program was to deliver some basics tips regarding ‘Ayurveda, Yoga and Balanced diet’, so as motivate participants that if incorporated in their regime, will help them to lead a healthy life. The aforementioned three days program was conceived, designed and executed by Preachers of DJJS Bengaluru, a two and a half hour session daily which comprised group discussions, small skits, talk sessions and power point presentation.

The first day session began with the recitation of Om Chanting and explanation of its benefits on environment and one’s mind. An introduction about Ayurveda was given by Sadhvi Ritu Bharti ji, who not only inspired everyone to lead a lifestyle based on Ayurveda vis a vis rising before the sun, practicing yoga & pranayama and nutritious food choices (what to eat when) but also propounded that maintaining an equilibrium of body elements and its procedure is the primary objective of Ayurveda in essence. Senior preacher, Sadhvi Preeti Bharti ji also shared knowledge about options to pick a balanced diet according to the season and other important factors like right time and right way of having a meal. She also shared recipes of healthy tasty snacks and herbal tea easily prepared at home as a healthy option against junk and fried snacks which are high on calorie but low on nutrition. She also unfolded the importance of ‘fasting’, the age old science in Indian culture, and how it supports the digestive system and other organs participating in the assimilation of the food within the body.

During the yoga & pranayama session on the second day, the most effective techniques like surya namaskar and pranayama like kapal bhaati, anulom vilom, bhastrika and bhramari were taught to the participants through live demonstrations. “Physical exercise should be an inevitable part of our daily routine. Apart from this, yoga practice will also help in bringing lightness to the body, stability, ability to work, resistance to discomfort and will stimulate digestion’ said Sadhvi Nishanka Bharti.

On third day, Sadhvi Prapoorna Bharti advocated vegetarianism with an interactive session along with a skit performance enacted upon by DJJS volunteers highlighting the merits and demerits of vegetarian and non- vegetarian food. Sadhvi Sakshi Bharti in a talk session said that Laughter is the medicine and one should not shy away to laugh heartily when one can. She exhorted that we should harbor positive thoughts for good health as mind is a very powerful tool in both causing and curing any disease, and hence, mental discipline and adherence to moral and ethical values are considered a pre-requisite for health. Hence, praying and meditation is considered to be a vital health support system. All participants were made to sit in meditation for half an hour. The session ended with a group prayer, ॐ सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिनः सर्वे सन्तु निरामयाः । सर्वे भद्राणि पश्यन्तु । मा कश्चिद्दुःख भाग्भवेत् । ॐ शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः ॥

Around 100 people were sensitized through this event. Newspaper ‘Rajasthan Patrika’ covered this event.
