There can be three basis supporting man-woman relationships:
- Physical and Emotional Basis
- Intellectual Basis
- Spiritual Basis
Physical and Emotional Basis
Physical Basis can be entirely based on just the physical intimacy between a man and woman, wherein the only support which keeps the relationship ignited is sensual gratification. This kind of relationship is bound to fall apart as soon as over-familiarity with the other person is attained, so to say when the other body stops tingling the senses; giving way to boredom. This is where the majority of youngsters stand today- people go out to the pubs/ discos just to find partners for one night stand, where the tickle of a new person brings back spark and excitement in life. This is a very volatile state- every new touch is like a print on the fabric of the body-memory. It’s like you get a tattoo done, it looks great; then you get another tattoo on top of it, then another one and then another, until the skin starts to wear out. In the same manner, imprint after imprint on the fabric of the body-memory disillusions the body. Just like over-tattooing is abusing the skin; likewise, proximity with multiple partners is abusing the senses. ...Look at the society today- people are not even leaving 2 to 3 years old kids, they are molesting them! Is this because they have a need to get intimate? No. It is because of their compulsive nature. It is a bad circuit in the brain which has been used over and over again, that it keeps getting triggered all the time.
Physical basis can be substantiated by an emotional basis. If partners have feelings for each other, then the relationship seems to outlast the one described above. But again, human beings at this level also can come together because of multiple emotions, such as:
- Insecurity and fear
- Attachment and love

More than 99% of the people in the world live in the above sphere of physical and emotional basis. They are ordinary people with ordinary needs. Their needs are very basic and could be fulfilled easily. Hence they choose their partners easily on the first two bases- physical and emotional.
Intellectual Basis
This refers to the category where partners have a sound intellectual basis for being with each other- like poetry, arts, science, etc. ...
This kind of union is very exceptional in the world and is hard to find- chiefly as our hunt for a partner is always tainted by our desires and lower impulses. ...As this union is so rare and a real companion with similar higher ideals is so hard to find; therefore such people usually remain...
What happens if the partner is equally strongly rooted in the physical realm...
What happens if the partner is more strongly rooted again in the physical realm instead of intellectual...
What happens if the partner is flexible (which rarely happens)...
And what happens if the partner is above the intellectual sphere, and is spiritual?
