In our bodily setup, there is one part, which is said to be the prime axis around which the human body revolves; the first thing to be formed in the mother's womb which is then followed by the making of the body, limbs, etc.; the vital dimension, which primarily decides the direction our life takes! All these traits are associated with the seat of major energy meridians and chakras– the Spine!
In reality, the spine is the source of all our energy. It is the region wherein the three major energy channels or nadis are present. These three energy channels are namely, the Ida, Pingala, and Sushumna. The Ida and the Pingala nadis move spirally similar to the DNA helix starting from the base of the spine… However, the Sushmuna– going through the central space of the spine, which is the vital-most channel, remains dormant.
In the Kathopanishad, Yama, the Lord of Death says, “There are several nerves and veins present in the physical system. However, the most important among them is the one which goes upward through the spine. It is the Sushumna. ……
What is its importance?
