Karkardooma: Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS) has undertaken a 16 day nationwide awareness campaign – Respect Women, Elevate the World; against Gender Based Violence running from 25th Nov International day for the elimination of Violence Against Women to 10th Dec 2015 Human Right’s Day, in association with the UN’s Orange the World Campaign. In the same vein, a massive road show in the form of an absolutely ‘dabbang’ rally was organized by the Karkardooma centre of DJJS. With a band of 400 women & girls on bullets, scooties, open jeeps and traditional chariot for more than 5 hours on the roads of East Delhi; a stretch of more than 6kms was from Nirman Vihar Metro Station to the Karkardooma Court covering V3S mall, vikas marg, laxmi nagar, chander nagar, vishwas nagar on its way. The flag off was done by area councilor of Krishna Nagar Ms. Kalpana Jain. Another highlight of the walk that stunned the viewers was a contemporary version of jhanki on open jeeps personifying women icons of past – Rani Jhansi, Mother Teresa, Meera Bai, Jija Bai and few offlate and current inspirations such as Kalpana Chawla, Indira Nooye, Chanda Kochhar etc. The rally with its fervor of shaking the rigid mindsets towards women halted at around 7 different spots wherein though provoking skits were delivered by young volunteers from Govt. Girls Sr. Sec. School of Karkardooma, on the overalls of stooping status of women and rising female feticide as a threat to humanity. TV channels like CCN along with Samachar Varta and Dainik Jagran from the print media gave tremendous coverage to the awakening pomp and show by 21st century new age vedic women carved under the divine auspices of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji.
