Women Development Cell of Daulat Ram College in DU Collaborates with DJJS Santulan to Decode the Eternal Formula for being a ‘Timeless Diva’
Sadhvi Deepika Bharti Ji, disciple of Divya Guru Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji & Global Head, DJJS Santulan led the session, engaging the young women in audience in a thought-provoking exploration of holistic women’s empowerment in the age of social media. Amid the relentless influence of beauty standards, fashion trends, fad diets and curated digital lifestyles, young women increasingly find themselves navigating unrealistic expectations, peer pressure and self-doubt. The workshop addressed how these external influences can distort self-perception, often leaving women feeling inadequate despite their aspirations and abilities. Through the lives of extraordinary women from Indian history, Sadhvi Ji offered an alternative perspective on confidence, individuality and success, one rooted in self-awareness, inner strength and the courage to embrace one’s identity unapologetically.
Drawing inspiration from India’s progressive heritage, Sadhvi Ji highlighted how women across different eras challenged social stigmas, defied restrictive expectations and contributed naturally and significantly to the making of society and the nation. From warrior queens like Queen Lakshmibai, Queen Velu Nachiyar; revolutionaries like Kanaklata Barua, Rani Gaidinliu; social reformers like Sister Nivedita, Mirra Alfassa, and Vedic scholars like Maitreyi and the revered Queen Madalsa, their lives illustrated that a woman’s dignity and potential need not be defined by societal expectations. Rather than seeking validation or proving themselves against their male counterparts, these iconic women embodied the freedom to live with conviction, purpose and authenticity.
Conducting dynamic activities, Sadhvi Ji further explained how a conscious connection with one’s inner self can help young women recognise their inherent strengths, distinguish truth from misleading narratives and develop the courage to stand up against injustice. In a world where women continue to face violence, discrimination and social conditioning, only spiritual awakening serves as a foundation for developing sound judgement, empathy and fearless decision-making. Such holistic development, she highlighted, enables women to navigate both their personal and professional lives with greater clarity, confidence and purpose, as reflected in the exemplary case studies of women across Indian history shared during the session.
Vidhi Verma, President of Pragati, and Tanishka, Vice-President of Pragati, extended their heartfelt appreciation in their testimonies representing the girl students in the audience, that the workshop offered them an eye-opening perspective on ambition, identity and self-worth, navigating peer pressure, in an age of social media, competing narratives and ever-evolving definitions of success and encouraged all of them to pause and look beyond external expectations and pursue their aspirations with greater clarity and confidence. Dr. Malvika Singh, Convenor, Daulat Ram College, highlighted how women across generations have faced social, cultural and gender-based challenges. Yet, the ability to connect with self-consciousness remains remarkably the timeless factor. The session thus forged a meaningful connection between the struggles of women in history and the realities of today’s Gen Z.
