It is mentioned in the Ramayana that demon Ravana disguised as a sage in order to fool Devi Sita to step out of the Lakshman rekha to abduct her without any resistance. The Lakshman rekha was a divine boundary drawn by Devi Sita’s brother-in-law Lakshmana to protect her in the absence of Lord Rama and himself. However, upon continuous insistence of demon Ravana disguised as a sage for alms, Devi Sita stepped out of the divine boundary and got abducted. This incident holds a very important spiritual meaning too. It was to bring this meaning of the incident of Devi Sita’s abduction to the masses of Panipat, in addition to other glories, (Haryana) that a grand Shri Ram Katha was organized from 22nd to 28 April 2018.

Sadhvi Shreya Bharti Ji as the Katha Vyas explained to the audience the spiritual reason why Devi Sita was abducted. Devi Sita represents bhakti (devotion), whereas Lord Rama is divine-knowledge incarnate. This is to say that devotion without eternal knowledge can make an individual lose the ability to discern between good and evil like Devi Sita did. This also has another meaning which is much relevant to the scenario we are facing today.  It is seen that many people claim to be spiritually awakened but in reality they are not. Such individuals fool us into believing a version of spirituality which is not authentic. Here, it must be noted that we too like Devi Sita are not devoid of devotion. However, we do not have true spiritual knowledge. Hence, we are leading a life where we think that people who can perform miracles alone are the spiritually awakened beings.

So how do we know that an individual is spiritually enlightened, and thereby can enlighten us too? Though, Lord Rama was the human incarnation of Lord Vishnu, he attained spiritual wisdom from his spiritual teacher Rishi Vashistha. It was Rishi Vashistha who bestowed upon Lord Rama the knowledge of Brahm Gyan. Brahm Gyan is the technique of practically realizing the divinity within. With this knowledge an individual is not only able to make wise choices for him/her but for others as well. This is the reason why Lord Rama, sensing a troublesome situation, had instructed his brother Lakshmana not to leave Devi Sita alone in his absence. Lakshmana did as was told to him, but when circumstances demanded otherwise, he left Devi Sita within the ambit of divine protective circle. Therefore, today as well, it is necessary for us to find a truly spiritually awakened teacher (Guru). A Guru who can unleash eternal wisdom within us, thereby we too can make choices that help us save from doom. In this regard seekers can hope to attain Brahm Gyan from His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, for he is one of the true spiritual teachers of the present time.
