Indian Cow is not considered as an animal, rather Vedas have hailed her as Mother.  Divya Guru Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, head & founder of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan says - Service to Mother Cow is the foundation of Holistic Development, backbone of agricultural system, factor of economic growth, and root of healthy life. Being an anchor of the said 3-tiers of sustainability, Indian Cow is hailed as a mother, universally. Bearing this in mind, DJJS Kamdhenu Program is focused on preservation, breed improvement and re-establishing the value of Indian Cow as pivot of any ideal sustainable society.

Worship of Mother Cow dates back to the Vedic times. Lord Krishna, in His role as a Shepherd boy, strongly presented the importance of Mother Cow & motivated the society to revere her. The pious festival of Gopashtami is attributed to care and service to Mother Cow as established by Shri Krishna and is also a moment to reconnect with Mother Nature at large.  Organizing Vedic Yajna on the occasion severed both the aforementioned purposes, informed DJJS Representative.

A gamut of traditional Indian rituals was followed in the pujan. The divine vibrations of Vedic Mantras recited during Yajna reverberated the ashram and thus created a sacred & serene atmosphere. The spiritual message behind the rituals performed, were unveiled during the Yajna which inspired attendees towards righteous path & motivated them to serve Mother Cow.

Gopashtami celebration is an annual affair at DJJS Kamdhenu Gaushalas based in Jatkhod Modh, Delhi; Nurmahal, Punjab; Saharsa, Bihar & Latur, Maharashtra. These are not mere cow-care homes but research centers working on breed improvement & conservation of key varieties of Desi Cow namely, Sahiwal, Gir, Tharparkar, Rathi & Hariyana.
