On the occasion of 70th Independence Day, young band of DJJS Nature Conservators performed a thought provoking street play- “Freedom from Pollution” at the annual Independence Day event organised by Dr. Pragati Grover Memorial Charitable Trust, Chandigarh in Green Belt Park, Sec- 40, Chandigarh.

Enthused by the initiatives of the My Earth My Responsibility Campaign in Chandigarh, the members of the trust had invited the DJJS troop to steer locals towards shouldering their environmental responsibility to shape pollution free Chandigarh. Eminent personalities from the city namely, Mr. Satpal Jain, Ex. M.P. Chandigarh, Additional Soliciter, GOI; Mr. Prem Grover, Chariman, Dr. Pragati Grover Memorial Charitable Trust, Chd; Mrs. Saroj Grover, President, Dr. Pragati Grover Memorial Charitable Trust; Mr. Ravikant Sharma, Dist. President BJP; Mr. Kulmeet Sodhi, Dist. Vice President BJP; Mr. Surinder Bagga, MC & President of Architect Association, Chd; Mr. Shama Negi, MC , Chd; Mr. Sanjeev Verma, MC, Dhanas; Mr. Sanjeev Verma, President BJP, ward no.9, Chd and Mr. Jinder Sawaan, President RWA, Sec- 40, Chd were present at the event to witness this special performance.

The street play performance was followed by a sensitizing address by Swami Gurukirpanand Ji, ascetic disciple of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji & DJJS Coordinator, MEMR Chandigarh Chapter, who persuaded the audience to contemplate on the aspects of freedom which we still ought to achieve to ensure healthy, prosperous and progressive living to current and future generations of our Nation, as we enter the 70th year of Independence.

Enslaved by greed and selfishness man has plundered nature to an extent that today humanity stands face to face with an unprecedented environmental crisis. Swami ji concluded by saying, “In the context of environment, Independence day calls for liberation of human mind-set from the selfish notions in order to attain a pollution free environment”.

The audience, including all the guests, highly appreciated the performance and the overall initiative  of the organisation. Many of them came forward to support the campaign for the betterment of the city. 

Since the launch of MEMR Chandigarh Chapter in Dec 2015, DJJS Nature Conservators have been rigorously sensitizing people the city to steer them on the path of pro- environmental living, inorder to set Chandigarh as an example of environmental responsible city in India.
