Where there is a will, there is a way. This saying became absolutely true when four new calves were born at Kamdhenu Gaushala at Nurmahal, Punjab using the latest technique of ‘Embryo Transplant Technique (ETT)’. These calves were born to the best quality breed of India ‘Sahiwal breed’ of cows. Kamdhenu project is targeted to preserve and protect the Sahiwal breed of cows. This is the first time it has happened in the land of Punjab.

Scientists from GADVASU University, Ludhiana experimented this technique in the lab of Kamdhenu Gaushala of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS). The hard work and blessings of revered Gurudev Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji bear fruits and resulted in resounding success. This will for sure act as the milestone in improvement of Sahiwal breed of cows.

The distinguishing feature of ETT technique is that a good breed Sahiwal cow can give birth to 4-7 calves in a year. A Sahiwal cow named ‘Nandini’ has given to the extent of 21 kg of milk in a day at Nurmahal Gaushala. Through this technique, two male and two females calves were born. This will be beneficial to future generations where not only quality of breed will improve but number of good breed cows will also increase. These efforts of Kamdhenu Gaushala will be not only beneficial to Punjab but to the whole India.
