MoU Signed between Bodh, DJJS and Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment under Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan
The partnership marks an important milestone in Bodh’s ongoing efforts to contribute to a healthier, empowered and drug-free society. Launched by the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment in 2020, NMBA has expanded across the country and brings together government departments, civil society organisations, educational institutions, communities and other stakeholders to strengthen prevention, awareness, counselling, treatment and rehabilitation efforts related to substance use.
The MoU was signed in the gracious presence of Shri Sudhanshu Pant, IAS, Secretary, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment; Shri Astik Kumar Pandey, IAS, Director; and Dr. Sandeep R. Rathod, Joint Secretary, Drug Prevention & Planning Division, representing the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.
Representing DJJS on the occasion were Sadhvi Shitabh Bharti, Global Coordinator, Bodh – Drug Abuse Eradication Programme, DJJS, along with Mr. Gaurav Gupta and Mr. Gaurav Sagar.
Through this collaboration, Bodh seeks to further strengthen its outreach and prevention initiatives by engaging youth, educational institutions, families and communities, while promoting awareness about the risks associated with substance abuse and encouraging timely access to counselling, treatment and rehabilitation services.
The partnership also aligns with NMBA’s emphasis on a whole-of-government and whole-of-society approach, in which communities, youth, women, educational institutions, civil society and grassroots stakeholders contribute to building a drug-free society.
Bodh’s grassroots programmes and campaigns provide a platform for sustained community engagement and preventive action, including initiatives focused on self-control, youth empowerment, substance-use awareness and healthy lifestyles.
This MoU therefore marks not merely a formal collaboration, but a renewed commitment to strengthening collective action against substance abuse and contributing to the national vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
