Free Health Care facilities leave a significant impact in terms of providing better health care to the marginalized sections of our society. It gets strengthened more when amalgamated with one to one counseling and prevention education concerning various diseases.
Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan (DJJS), under its holistic health program - ‘Aarogya’, gave respite to the needy by holding one day Free ‘Multi-Specialty Health checkup Camp’ in Dehradun on 4th December 2018 at Primary school, Shahpur Kalyanpur, Dharmawala, Dehradun in the Indian State of Uttrakhand.
Wide publicity of camp was done in advance through distribution of pamphlets, hoardings and announcements. One week before the medical camp a team of DJJS volunteers visited the nearby areas for canvasing and distribution of pamphlets with detailed information about the medical camp, its venue, time and the available medical facilities. Information about the camp was also given to all the concerned local authorities of Dehradun.
The camp started with formal inauguration by eminent guests Shri Sahdev Singh Pundirand (MLA) & Ms. Leela Devi (Gram Pradhan) and introduction of the medical fraternity team. Free consultation and diagnostics was rendered to the registered patients by a panel of renowned doctors of the city Dr. Pankhi Longani, Dentist; Dr. Naveen Shukla, ENT specialist; Dr. Sanskriti Priya, Gynecologist; Dr. V.K. Shrivastav, General Physician; Dr. Anand Sharma, Orthopedic and an Eye Specialist. Apart from facilities like Blood sugar & BP checkup, prescribed medicines were also provided free of cost to the patients. Patients with acute problems were referred to hospital for further investigation and treatment where they will be given special discounts. Also patients were registered for free of cost operations related eye, ear, nose, throat and thyroid ailments in Himalayan Hospital, Jollygrant and Kalindi Hospital, Vikasnagar respectively. Through this camp, curative services were rendered to 500 patients, comprising 81 children, 236 women and 183 men.
DJJS Preachers representatives Sadhvi Arunima Bharti & Sadhvi Reetambhara Bharti added value to the camp with timely and proper arrangement. They also lend their services in suggesting measures through group counseling to the patients in waiting like to avoid junk food habits that deter the nutritional value of the food, have water at least one hour after meal, eating local seasonal fruits & vegetables to avoid malnutrition, regular exercise helps in rejuvenating the dead cells and provides more oxygen to the body, etc.
