Under the project ‘Nirnay’ – a Campaign against the use of tobacco products and alcohol, DJJS Gorakhpur organized its first Annual Review Event at Naval's Academy, Kusmi in Gorakhpur on the 14th of October 2015 with the aim of evaluating and reflecting upon the work and tasks performed under the campaign throughout the year.
Comprising of 25 School Authorities and 1500 students, the event began with the ceremony of Lamp Lighting and subsequently a medley of 5 songs were played upon which a special group of dancers performed, which had previously participated in ‘Dance India Dance’ – a reality show, in order for giving a grand opening to the program.
For highlighting upon the effectiveness which the drug abuse eradication program of DJJS -Bodh has observed on its own while working with schools, communities and workplaces, a skit was performed, titled ‘ Life of an Addict – Parichay’ depicting the journey of a student from being a sober gentleman to a hardcore addict. The message of the skit was further elaborated into details by the expert speakers of the Sansthan while sharing their personal experiences and reflection over the issue of drug abuse in the state of Uttar Pradesh.
Swami Arjunanand ji, disciple of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, the head and founder of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan, and an expert on the subject through his insightful lecture, motivated the students to "Say No" to all sorts of lures which may be offered to them to take them onto the road of drug abuse.
He also provided them with several tips on "How to deal with Peer Pressure" as it serves to be one of the most common reasons behind the experimentation of drugs amongst students. Swami ji also highlighted upon the work done under “Nirnay” in past one year to curb the spread of Drug Abuse in Gorakhpur and how, through spirituality, Bodh has successfully changed the lives of thousands of people. He motivated the students to always “Say No” to drugs so that the future of India can be Drug Free.
