India has always had a close bond with sweetness. Eating sweets is woven into our culture, our emotions, and our celebrations. However, our collective sweet tooth now needs thoughtful attention and balance. As a nation, we are facing a growing health crisis as nearly 3 out of 10 people are affected and diabetes often leads to 8–10 serious health complications which led us to have become the Diabetes Capital of the World.

To tackle this concern, the Fit India Sugar Board initiative, highlighted by Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi on 25th May 2025, reinforces the message “Fit India is Strong India” so choose healthier alternatives today! Our Indian Government is working rigorously on sugar awareness through Sugar Boards in Schools and recommends extending this initiative to offices, canteens and other institutions, encouraging citizens to make smart lifestyle choices.

To combat this silent epidemic, this year too DJJS Aarogya undertook the Diabetes Awareness Campaign in September–October 2025, titled “Sugar Sense - Swaad se Sehat Tak” with the goal to:

The Sugar Sense initiative was designed to demystify diabetes and empower individuals to make healthy lifestyle choices. This campaign is committed to holistic health and preventive care through awareness, education, community engagement, and wellness activities.

Campaign Specifics

The DJJS Aarogya initiative delivered a total of 25 interactive health workshops across schools, workplaces and communities in Delhi, Maharashtra, Punjab, Rajasthan, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand.

Each campaign session shared practical insights on prevention, nutrition and fitness - making health knowledge simple, engaging, and actionable.

From vibrant classrooms to serene ashrams, every interaction sparked conversations that matter. This campaign was more about transformation than information. Together, we’re building a future where wellness is a way of life.

  7. DIY Zumba – Promoting fitness through fun

  • From curious children to concerned elders, the campaign touched hearts across generations. 
  • Interactive Sugar boards sparked conversations, while Zumba sessions brought smiles and added a fun twist to fitness. 
  • The campaign was attended by over 3,000 individuals, making them aware of early signs of diabetes and guiding many towards timely care. 
  • Nutritional sessions encouraged participants to rethink their plate portions, daily diets and prioritize wellness.
