Truth in every age, says His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji, has to pass through primarily four stages: denial, mockery, antagonism, and finally, acceptance. The dissemination of truth, thus, has to undergo severe struggle to see the light of the day. DJJS’s play on the life story of the Buddha illustrated this feature eloquently at Kumbh Mela, Prayagraj on 13th February 2019. The play was hugely applauded by the school as well as college students present there.

The play showcased the challenges faced by Buddha when he began to relentlessly spread the message of universal truth. The biggest enemy of the Buddha was none other than his own cousin Devadatta. Once when the Buddha had gone away for a short period of time he tried to bring a split in the Buddhist Sangha by persuading monks against the Buddha but failed. However, Devadatta did not stop at this. It is well known from the pali sources that Devadatta even attempted to kill the Buddha by sending an aggressive elephant. However, the elephant became calm as soon as he reached the Buddha. Finally, Devadatta took up the spiritual path and accepted the Buddha as his teacher. The orator of the play, Sadhvi Parma Bharti Ji said that today the challenges faced by His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj Ji and his disciples are similar to those faced by the Buddha ages ago. DJJS, like the Buddha, has started a spiritual revolution against ignorance with the propagation of the ancient Indian sacred technique of divine knowledge in the present era. Maharaj Ji’s present state of Samadhi (Deep Meditation) is a testimony of his unshakable dedication to this cause in the face of serious opposition. To firmly establish peace in a growing bitter world, he has put on stake his entire life. This statement may appear as hyperbole in a world where no deed is performed by humans without the intention for personal advancement. The only solution, then, is to have one’s inner eye awakened through the grace of a true spiritual Master (Guru), for divine knowledge alone can make one recognize the truth. Sadhvi Ji, hence, welcomed the audience to start their spiritual journey, and stated that the doors of DJJS will always remain open for every seeker.
