With thousands around, volunteers of Bodh the drug abuse eradication program of DJJS, including men, women, youth and the ones in their later life were seen raising their hands high in the sky in order to get selected to answer the questions asked during the quiz conducted at Nehru Place Market, the biggest among Indian IT markets. Noticeably, it was the first attempt by the organization though, en route for drawing attention of the buyers and sellers, those as busy as bees in such markets, on the blazing and fiery issue of drug abuse in the society.
With basic questions asked like ‘what you pay every time you smoke a cigarette’, people answered in the most expected way as 2 or 3 Rs, the cost of a cigarette, which further when cleared by the volunteers as ’11 minutes of your life’, gave a new perspective to the gathering towards the much acceptable habit of smoking or practicing drug abuse.
People from all walks of life and age, participated in the quiz and were also given gifts in return of correct answers. In a conducive- environment, created by the volunteers of Bodh, motivated the congregation to shed their hesitation in order to come forward and contribute their bit of participation, receive information, facts and correct knowledge about drug abuse.
Through small examples, live demonstration and enactment by the bodh team, light was thrown upon how mere experimentation with drugs like cigarettes, alcohol, beer, paan, hukkah, bidi, khaini, inhaling thinners, charas, ganja etc. may lead one into the never ending blind alley of Drug Addiction.
Almost 2000 to 3000 people participated and got awareness during the length of the program. The market association and area notables appreciated the efforts of the organization with their words of wisdom towards the culmination of the quiz session.
The program was held under ‘Bodh Campaign’ a drive for drug free Delhi under the banner of Bodh - the drug abuse eradication program of divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan running under the divine aegis of His Holiness Shri Ashutosh Maharaj Ji.
