This age old saying proves to be so true in case of Children who are often metaphored as Wet Cement i.e. whatever falls on children, leaves an impression in them whether good or bad. And in contemporary times when several less-talked of social issues like drug abuse, peer pressure, ragging etc are seeping in the society at a very high pace, it becomes all the more important to educate the children about the ins and outs of their preferences timely so that they do not collect wrong information about them and for their wellbeing from harmful sources, thereby ending up ruining their own lives and then the lives of their dear ones.

An Educative Workshop by DJJS Ghaziabad at DPS, NTPC successfully battled the Half-baked knowledge about drugs amongst the children

Thus, understanding the same, Delhi Public School, NTPC in Dadri, UttarPradesh invited the Ghaziabad centre of Divya Jyoti Jagrati Sansthan founded/mentored by His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj ji under its Drug Abuse Eradication Program (Bodh) to conduct an educative workshop on the theme – ‘Traverse High in Life, not be trapped by narcotic Drugs’ for its students.

With 400 students on board, the workshop kicked off with a series of ice breaking activities in order to gather everyone’s attention to the subject. This fun filled exercise was followed by a video based lecture presentation by Sadhvi Shweta Bharti ji, devotee/disciple of His Holiness Ashutosh Maharaj ji and also an expert on the subject, wherein through visual graphics and videos, various aspects of drug abuse such as what are drugs, difference between use, Misuse and abuse, what is addiction, reasons behind the increasing number of addicts, its consequences and the importance of always saying ‘No’ to anything harmful were kept in front of the students. Each topic was elaborately discussed with the students. And to further emphasise on the content discussed during the presentation, the volunteers’ team at Ghaziabad centre performed a humorous skit on “Effects of Gateway Drugs” which as well depicted the harmfulness of occasionally or frequently consumed drugs like Alcohol, cigarette, bidi etc which in turn affect the entire surroundings at large. By the end, the session successfully sensitized the students of Delhi Public School who are now ready to make their decisions wisely in context of drugs and make their future Drug Free.
